Here are the most important changes with the new version 2.2.2.

Technology Changes

  • The Eclipse plugin is now supported on Eclipse 3.2 and up.

Tasks
  • The tasks are now visible in the Themes view and in the Release Plan, by using the "+" sign next to the story's card. Double-click on the task in the view to open the edit dialog for the task without having to edit the full card. This is very useful to quickly see the tasks for the current iteration.
  • ProjectCards now has three statuses for the tasks: Waiting, Started and Complete. This allows the developers to indicate that they have started working on a task and is no longer limited to "to-do" and "done".
  • In the different views and reports, the status is now represented using a clear icon.
  • In the task tab of the Card Editor, it is now possible to use direct editing in the task table for updating existing tasks.

Release Plan
  • It is now possible to assign the cards to a team or to a project. Using the new Planning Group entry field in the Card Editor, you can now view cards which are assigned to the same team or same sub-project grouped together in the Planning View. The view also displays the estimates for each group part of an iteration. ProjectCards now has a "Show Planning Groups" button to the taskbar of the Release Plan view to toggle between our current view and the new view with the planning groups.
  • Drag and drop can now be used to assign or change the Planning Group of the cards directly from the Release Plan. You can also use the right-click button to change it.
  • The Planning Groups are also visible in the reports. For the reports generated from the user interface, the Planning Groups are included in only if the "Show Planning Groups" button from the Release Plan is selected.
  • The "estimate" field for the Cards and for the Tasks now allows a precision of 2 decimals.
  • The current release, interim release and iteration is now displayed in bold, in order to be able to locate the current items quickly.
  • The red "bomb" icon is no longer displayed when a card for which the required date is before the iteration's end date but the card has been completed.

Reports
  • We have greatly simplified the burn-down and burn-up charts to better match what is used in Scrum. The previous stacked area charts are still available from the server reports by using the "Show Detailed Burn-Down Chart" or "Show Detailed Burn-Up Chart".
  • The Release Report has been simplified and is now easier to understand, with less data repetition when there are many interim releases.
  • [New in V2.2.2] It is possible to select the type of chart that is generated by default. In the Manage - Configure Server Tasks dialog, select the "Display detailed work charts in reports" option to have the detailed chart in the report by default. Unselect the option to get the more "Agile-like" simple chart.

Search and Filters
  • When using the Search feature, the dialog box now prompts checkboxes to indicate the view(s) on which the search criteria should be applied. By default the search applies to both the Themes and the Release Plan.
  • Changed the location of the Filter icon. Instead of having only one icon for both views, the Filter icon is now located in the toolbar of each view (Themes and Release Plan). It is now much easier to see and decide where the filter is or must be applied.
  • When filtering based on a value in a custom field, it is now possible to search for cards where no value has yet been specified.

Installation on Windows
  • ProjectCards can now safely be installed on Windows Vista and 64-bit editions of Windows.

Licensing and Updates
  • ProjectCards Free! is now activated automatically at the end of the 60-day trial period. When ProjectCards Free! is activated, only 2 users will have read-write access to the projects. All other users need to be changed to "Guest" access. ProjectCards Free! is limited to servers hosting 4 projects, with 200 stories per project and it is not possible to edit the definition of the custom fields.
  • In ProjectCards v2.2, we have enabled a better tracking of the software updates of ProjectCards. In prior version, updates where always free. Starting from v2.2, when a license is purchased, the buyer gets one year of free updates. After this period has expired, a software maintenance plan must be purchased for the upcoming year. This means that v2.2 is the last free update if your software maintenance plan is currently expired. You can see the Upgrade Expiry Date in the "About ProjectCards" dialog box.

User Experience
  • The "New Card" and "New Category" actions are now enabled only when the current selection allows adding a new entry.
  • Changed the "Started" icon from yellow over green to white over blue. This makes the started activities more visible.
  • [2.2.2] Fixed missing icons in the reports for the new Planning Groups.
  • [2.2.2] Fixed the nagging dialog that comes up when the evaluation period is almost over. The dialog popped up at every key typed in a card, so it was not nagging anymore... Sorry about that.
  • Solved a few hiccups here and there, nothing to worry about.
