Traditional project management disciplines are based on civil engineering projects. They make perfect sense for the physical world. After all, you can't very well decide to change the size of your house once the ground floor is made! The detailed nature of planning that we use in construction projects is only possible because there is so little creativity required. Millions of houses and thousands of bridges have been made. Very little innovation is even possible! Optimization is the goal. Software is fundamentally different. We must NOT keep reinventing the wheel. The flip side is that we are always in "invention mode", and detailed plans will inevitably get broken. Fortunately, the organic nature of software creates opportunities that would be impossible in a material world. Reassembling the parts of a project in a different configuration is entirely possible. Re-using existing assets is cheap. So, if you are building a house, make a Gantt chart. If you want to build a bridge: make your design perfect before you start. If you want to build a pyramid, line up a million slaves. But if you are building software, you need to use ProjectCards!Take a look at the screen shots!
